The SCAN-2030 team was pleased to contribute to the Health Technology Assessment international (HTAi) 2026 Annual Meeting held in Istanbul, Türkiye. Prof Shirley Xue Li participated as a panel speaker in the session:
Panel Session: “Horizon Scanning (HS) to Aid System Shaping: Perspectives from the Asia-Pacific Region (Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong)”
The session brought together international experts from Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong to discuss how horizon scanning can support health system preparedness, evidence-informed policymaking, and the identification of emerging health technologies across the technology lifecycle.
Representing Hong Kong, Prof Li shared the development of SCAN-2030 and ongoing efforts to establish a horizon scanning ecosystem that supports the early identification, assessment, and adoption of innovative health technologies. The discussion highlighted the importance of stakeholder engagement, data-driven decision-making, international collaboration, and aligning horizon scanning activities with policy and healthcare system needs.
The panel provided valuable insights into how different jurisdictions are advancing horizon scanning capabilities and explored opportunities for strengthening future collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region.
